Horizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics

Horizons: Perspectives on Psychedelics is an annual forum in New York City that examines the role of psychedelics in science, medicine, culture and spirituality.

Now entering its thirteenth year, Horizons is the largest and longest-running annual gathering on this topic in the world.

Seeing You

Seeing You was an immersive off-Broadway theater production directed by Randy Weiner and Ryan Heffington exploring the horrors of war through the lens of a young WWII conscript from Hoboken, New Jersey.

With the show under time and financial pressure, KB was brought in to find teams of artists who could execute elaborate scenic and prop designs in record time and below budget, including a legion of puppeteers, metalworkers, carpenters, sculptors and set dressers.

Developed a complete 100+ page business plan and financial model for transforming an underutilized mansion and estate in Westchester County into a sustainable business as an event venue.

Conducted extensive market research, built complex financial projections, and interviewed dozens of local and regional event planners, clients, caterers, production houses, film/photo location managers, and venue operators.

WOMEN: New Portraits

Annie Leibovitz’s WOMEN: New Portraits touring exhibition showcased portraits of female public figures, accompanied by a series of discussions and programs centered around female leadership and community.

KB directed the process of negotiating, improving, and permitting its New York City venue, a former women’s prison in Manhattan.

Mysteryland

Mysteryland USA was unique among North American EDM events in its historic location at Bethel Woods, its generous investment in art, performance, and scenic design, and extraordinary production values.

KB worked with ID&T’s Dutch-led production team to to connect Mysteryland to New York City’s arts community, and fill Bethel Woods with art installations, performances, talks, healing arts, and other non-music content.

Lab/Shul is a “god-optional” and LGBT-friendly community based in New York City with a modern approach to Jewish sacred gatherings.

In 2016, KB produced their Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah services at the New York Academy of Medicine, a Gilded Age treasure facing Central Park.

Private Dinner

A major international spirits company was seeking a perfectly tailored private dinner to celebrate their new partnership with the Latin American owners of a premium Nicaraguan rum brand.

The event was attended by the global and American leadership of the spirits company and their counterparts from the rum brand, including the principal of the group, one of Latin America’s first billionaires.

The dinner took place in a private loft in Manhattan and was catered by one of New York’s top Latin chefs, and featured dinner, live music, dancing, and of course, a tasting of the entire product line.

Fueled by teams of hundreds of artists, and sprawling across tens of thousands of square feet of Brooklyn’s largest warehouses, the Winkel & Balktick parties became the most anticipated nights of the year for New York City’s most adventurous party people.

The Lost Horizon Night Market

The Lost Horizon Night Market was a series of single-night entertainment events where dozens of experiences were hidden within a fleet of rented box trucks in public places.

Establishments included noodle bars, talk shows, bowling alleys, boxing rings, hot tubs, BB gun shooting ranges, movie theaters, strip clubs, hotels, prisons, motivational counseling, jazz clubs, screenprinting studios, tea houses, circus shows, stand-up comedy and opportunities to smash glass and ceramics... All within 200 square feet or less.

The Night Market concept subsequently spread to several cities across the country and is under new management.

Auditorium was a series of enchanting evenings for lovers of ambient, experimental, downtempo and other slow electronic and electroacoustic sounds.

All music was performed live by its composers, on a unique true eight-channel surround sound system.

Venues included lofts and churches throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan.

FIGMENT is an annual extravaganza of participatory and interactive creativity, held in unique public locations. Each year, hundreds of artists participate and thousands attend.

In its early years, KB co-founded, produced, and production managed the flagship New York City event on Governors Island. FIGMENT continues in New York and across the world.
